Like the Mangalyaan mission, an orbiter will also be sent to Venus, which will study its atmosphere, temperature, surface weather, etc. Venus Orbiter Mission (VOM), A special spacecraft will be prepared for the VOM mission which will orbit Venus only for study. So that the effect of the Sun on Venus’s surface, subsurface, atmosphere etc. can be understood, it is known that Venus was once a habitable planet but then the situation changed. This change will also be studied. ISRO will take the responsibility of developing and launching this spacecraft. It is believed that this mission will be launched in March 2028. Because at that time Venus will be closest to the Earth. Besides, the government has also approved a fund of Rs 1236 crore for this. Out of which Rs 824 crore will be spent only on Shukrayaan spacecraft.

Last year ISRO chief Dr. S. Somnath said that it is necessary to send a mission there to understand the atmosphere of Venus and its acidic behavior. So that the atmospheric pressure there can be studied. The atmospheric pressure of Venus is 100 times greater than that of Earth. Somnath was lecturing at the Indian National Science Academy (INSA). Somnath has said that we do not yet know what is the reason for such high pressure on Venus. The layer of clouds around Venus contains acid, so no spacecraft will be able to enter its atmosphere. The study of Venus is necessary to know the origin of the solar system. If we look at our Venus or Mars, we will know why there is no life in it and a mission should be sent there to understand this.

If the launch does not happen in 2028, the best launch window would be in 2031. Shukrayaan is an orbiter mission. That is, the spacecraft will study the planet Venus while orbiting it. It will have many scientific payloads. But the two most important payloads will be High-Resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar and Ground Penetrating Radar. Shukrayaan will study the geographical structure and volcanic activities of Venus from space. Its ground gas emissions, wind speed, clouds and other things will also be studied. Venus will revolve around Venus in an elliptical orbit.

The duration of the Shukrayaan mission will be four years. This means that the spacecraft will be built for so long. It is possible that Shukrayaan will be launched from the GSLV Mark II rocket. The weight of Shukrayaan will be 2500 kg. It will have a payload of 100 kg. It will have a payload of 100 kg. Currently, there are reports of 18 payloads being installed in it, however, how many payloads will be installed will be decided later. Payloads from Germany, Sweden, France and Russia can also be installed in it.
