News: The Condition of the Electricity Supply Is Very Bad in Up!
The village of Uttar Pradesh is getting the least electricity supply compared to other states of the country. Leaving aside Nagaland, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan are also ahead of UP.
UP Electricity Supply:
The condition of electricity supply in the village of Uttar Pradesh is worst. The situation is that UP is getting less electricity supply than neighboring states Bihar, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. In this list, UP is second from the bottom whereas in Nagaland, electricity is available in the least number of villages. UP State Electricity Consumer Council has raised the issue of getting the least amount of electricity in the villages of UP. Due to this the power system in up has been exposed.
UP Electricity Consumer Council president Awadhesh Kumar Verma has raised the issue of less electricity being provided in villages. He claimed that if Nagaland is left out the least amount of electricity is being supplied in the rural areas of UP. Even in the neighboring state of Bihar, electricity is provided to more villages than up. He said that the power corporation management should leave to the process of privatization of electricity and first work towards providing the full amount of electricity in the villages like other states.

Worst Condition of Electricity Supply in UP:
The council claimed that under the energy law of the government of India, all urban and rural consumers, except agricultural feeders, should get 24-hour electricity in all states. But after Nagaland, up is the only state which is able to provide electricity to the least number of rural areas. For this, the corporation apologize to the rural consumers under the country’s Consumer Rights Rule 2020 that justice is not being done to them.
Avdhesh Verma, citing the figures of electricity supply in rural areas tabled in the Rajya Sabha on February 3, said that in the rural areas of other states of the country, on average, electricity is being supplied for 21-23 hours daily, whereas n Uttar Pradesh, only 18.1 hours of electricity is being supplied daily. These figures are being given till March 2024.
According to the data, Nagaland has the lowest electricity supply in the country, 18 hours a day in rural areas and 20 hours a day in cities. Whereas in the villages of UP, electricity is available for 18.1 hours and in the cities, electricity is available for 23.4 hours. 22.2 hours in villages of Bihar 23.6 hours in urban areas, 21.4 hours in rural areas of Uttarakhand, and 23.7 hours in urban areas. Similarly, in other states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, electricity is being supplied for 21-23 hours in rural areas.
