Cash and Gold Worth Crores Recovered From The IRS Officer’s Premises
Income Tax officials recovered about 3.5 kg of gold and 2 kg of silver from the premises of Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Amit Singhal. Its value is around ₹3.5 crore. The CBI raided premises linked to a senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer in Delhi, Mumbai, and Punjab. During the raids, they seized gold and silver coins, jewellery, and cash worth Rs 1 crore. They found cash along with a huge amount of cash, gold-silver and jewellery.
Amit Kumar Singhal is a 2007 batch IRS officer posted as Additional Director General in the Directorate of Tax Payer Services in Delhi. According to reports, the officer has a lot of property in Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab. A lot of property including cash and objectionable material was recovered from his premises. CBI officials said that a locker and documents of 25 bank accounts in various banks were recovered from IRS Officer Amit’s house. Amit Singhal was arrested on Sunday along with one of his associates in a Rs 25 lakh bribery case.

The CBI had on Saturday registered a case against Amit accusing him of demanding a bribe of Rs 45 lakh to settle an income tax notice issued to La Pino Pizza owner Sanam Kapoor. Subsequently, CBI laid a trap and caught Harsh Kotak, an associate of the accused, red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25 lakh from the complainant on behalf of the accused. IRS officer Amit Singhal was arrested from his house in Vasant Kunj, Delhi the same day and both the accused were produced before the designated court on Sunday which remanded them to 14-day judicial custody.
During the raid, a lot of cash and gold and silver was recovered from IRS Officer Amit Singhal’s house. CBI searched his various premises and recovered about 3.5 kg gold and 2 kg silver, which is worth about ₹ 3.5 crores. He was arrested and produced in court.
