Lunar Eclipse Will Be Visible in India in 2026 Note Down the Date
Lunar eclipses will occur in 2026 on the full moon nights of the Sawan and Phalguna months. One of these eclipses will be visible in India.
Lunar Eclipse 2026: In the year 2026, there will be two lunar eclipses. The first will occur on the full moon of the Falgun month, and the second will occur on the full moon of the Sawan month. The lunar eclipse on Falgun Purnima (which coincides with Holika Dahan) will be visible in India. According to astrologers, there are rapid changes in energy during an eclipse.
First Lunar Eclipse 2026: Next year, the first lunar eclipse will occur on March 3rd, on the full moon day of the month of Falgun. A special feature of this day is that Holika Dahan (the burning of Holika’s effigy) also takes place on this day. This is a partial eclipse that will begin at 3:20 PM and last until 6:47 PM.
Will the lunar eclipse be visible in India?
The Eclipse that will occur on the day of Holika Dahan in 2026 will be visible in India, where the period of ritual impurity (Sutak) will also be observed. Therefore, Holika Dahan should be performed only after the eclipse ends. The Sutak period, associated with the eclipse, begins 9 hours before the start of the eclipse.

Second lunar eclipse of 2026: The next lunar eclipse will occur on August 28, 2026. This will be a total lunar eclipse, but it will not be visible in India, so the associated period of ritual impurity (Sutak) will not be observed here.
What not to do during the period of impurity:
The scriptures state that food should not be consumed during the period of impurity (Sutak). One should refrain from any negative actions during this time. Instead, one should meditate, recite the Ramcharitmanas, chant Shiva mantras, and focus on devotion to God. Additionally, if any food remains after the eclipse, tulsi leaves should be added to it.
