Chennai at Halt-Heavy Shower Lashes the Whole City

Due to heavy rainfall in whole Chennai  and its neighbouring districts: Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu is at halt and heavy shower has lashes the whole city due to which there is water logging in several areas and traffic overcrowding. As per the reports of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is getting intense. The common issue in the northern parts of Chennai like: Koyambedu and Perambur where water logging have worsen the travelling purpose of meaning. A warning and a red alert for residents has been made by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) that these areas will be hammered continuously by heavy rains on 15th and 16th October.

Ten critical spots including The Grain Market, Old Mahabalipuram Road, Indira Nagar, Koyambedu, Porur Junction, St. Thomas Mount have been pointed by CMRL. Following arrangements have been made by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) in order to reduce the effect of rainfall during emergencies like: arranging 2000 dewatering pump having a capacity of 50HP, 100 HP, 200HP and 10 lorry-mounted pumps.

As the monsoon from the south west is diminishing, so the monsoon from the south east is taking its place. It is predicted that the winds from the north east or north across the southern peninsula of India and the interior of Tamil Naidu and the center of Bay of Bengal will experience heavy rainfall in the following days. The northern and the southern parts and the others parts of Tamil Naidu can experience less rainfall but a orange and yellow alert in many districts like: Cuddalore, Salem, Krishnagiri, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Kallakurichi, Dharmapuri.

As the Chennai city is facing heavy monsoon so the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Naidu- ‘Udhayanidhi Stalin’ took a great step to visit Integrated Command Control Center (ICCC) as this center is important to receive flood reports and alerts of Chennai city. People are encouraged to visit the ICCC helpline at 1913 if they have any rain-related issues.

The resident of Chennai city are informed to stay alert from this unpredictable weather and heavy rainfall coming ahead.
