Australia’s captain Mitch Marsh won the toss and chose to bowl first- a decision that later may have proven fatal for the Aussies. Afghanistan was playing well as they were 40/0 in the six-overs power play including the six boundaries. Afghanistan made it 64/0 in the 10th over. Rahmanullah Gurbaz reached his half-century in the 15th over of the match along with him Ibrahim Zadran did the same five balls later.
In the second inning of the match, Australian openers Travis Head and David Warner did not perform well. They lost early two wickets in the first 3 overs of the second inning, then captain Mitch Marsh was also dismissed only on 12 runs. Glenn Maxwell played a good inning of 59 runs from 41 balls on one side, but Australia kept on losing the wickets on the other hand and only managed to get a score of 127.
