Cyclone Dana has finally completed its landfall process after 8 long hours. The landfall process began on Thursday, October 24 at midnight and continued till Friday morning at around 8:30 am. The speed of the cyclone was said to be about 110 km/h when it hit the nearby landmasses. Before making landfall between Bhitarkanika and Dhamra situated in Kendrapara and Bhadrak districts respectively, Cyclone Dana took a route towards the north-northwest at a speed of about 15 km/h for 6 hours.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has stated that no causality has been seen due to the efforts and actions of the administration. About 6 lakh people have been moved to safer places and almost 6000 women who were pregnant have been sent to health centres. The nearby coastal districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara are also noticing an increase in wind speeds and heavy rains.

IMD DG Mrutunjay Mohapatra has stated that the systems will remain on active surveillance for the Doppler effect that might result as a result of Clone Dana. Meanwhile, Kolkata airport resumed its flight operations on Friday after the landfall of cyclone Dana as stated by the airport officials.
