Donald Trump: Donald Trump took over as president for the second time by winning the US presidential election in 2024. The Associated Press has announced the election results. According to which Trump has won 277 electoral college votes, which crossed the majority figure of 270. Trump defeated his rival Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, who won 224 electoral college votes.
Although a tough fight was expected between Harris and Trump, a different picture emerged after the counting of electoral college votes began this morning.
The former US President was around 267 votes for a long time, but with a win in Wisconsin, one of the seven battleground states, he secured the 270 electoral votes required to win the presidency. Apart from Wisconsin, he also won in North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.

As Trump’s victory was becoming certain, he expressed gratitude for the support he received across the country. He claimed victory in the presidential elections and called it an ‘unprecedented political victory’.
Trump, who arrived to address a crowd of supporters at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in Florida, said, ‘America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate’. He said that this was a great victory for the Americans.

Trump arrived on the steps with his wife Melania and children. He said, ‘We made history tonight… This is a great victory for the American people, which will allow us to make America great again.
What does the victory mean for Donald Trump?
Donald Trump is the first president to win two non-consecutive terms in more than a century. He is the first former president to return to power since Grover Cleveland returned to the White House in the 1892 election. He is the first person to be elected president who has been convicted of a crime and at the age of 78, he is also the oldest person to be elected to this post.

Most poll estimates indicated a tough contest between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in the 2024 elections. As Joe Biden certainly withdrew as the candidate but Harris’s popularity increased. She also received several celebrity endorsements from the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Eminem.
If Harris wins the election, she becomes the first woman, black woman, and South Asian American to win the presidency.
