Indian Spinner Harbhajan Singh Set For New Role : Join BCCI

At the upcoming meeting of BCCI, the BCCI will elect the five major office-bearers with several prominent figures in attendance. The Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is set for a bigger role in the administration of cricket with the Punjab Cricket Association nominating him as representative for the upcoming BCCI AGM, which is to be held on 28 September.

At the upcoming meeting of BCCI, five major office-bearers will be elected, with several prominent figures in attendance. Alongside Harbhajan Singh, the Cricket Association of Bengal has put Sourav Ganguly as a representative. Notably, Ganguly has previously served as the President of BCCI.

The key agendas for AGM will be the election and appointment of BCCI top office-bearers, including the President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer. The meeting will also decide on one General Body representative for Apex Council and two members for the IPL Governing Council.

Harbhajan Singhis the member of India 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup-winning team, was earlier appointed as the Advisor and Harbhajan Singh will now appear for first time as the representative of his original state body.

The indian spinner Harbhajan Singh popularly called the “Turbanator,” stands among India finest off-spinners. Over his career, he featured in 103 Tests, 236 ODIs, and 28 T20Is, collecting the total of 711 international wickets. Harbhajan Singh Test record includes the 417 wickets at an average of 32.46, with the 25 five-wicket hauls and five ten-wicket match performances.

Here are other state governing body members who will represent their boards at AGM. Raghuram Bhatt (Karnataka), Sanjay Naik (Mumbai), Arun Dhumal (Himachal), Rajeev Shukla (UP), Jaydev Shah (Saurashtra), Pranav Amin (Baroda), and R.I. Palani (Tamil Nadu).

The circular to the state associations states that 12 September is the cutoff for submitting representative nominations. Nominations can filed between September 20 and 21, while the candidates will have until September 23 to withdraw. The election itself is slated for 28 September.
