Indians Can Visit 59 Countries Visa-Free, Passport Ranking Rises

In the Passport Index report released on Tuesday, India has been placed at 77th place in the global ranking of passport countries, based on the number of countries allowing travel without visa-free on a passport. India’s rankings have jumped from last year’s rankings (when it was ranked 80th). It now ranks 77th along with other countries – Burkina Faso, Cote d’lvoire, and Senegal, which offer visa-free travel in 59 countries.

As stated on its website, the list features 199 distinct passports and 227 unique travel destinations visa-free. The 2025 rain king is a symbol of the ongoing second wave of reforms for Indian passports. If we talk about the countries that have visa-free travel till now, then last year the number was higher in India, i.e., 62. However, this ranking depends on how the passports of the countries are performing in that particular year. India’s neighbouring nation, Pakistan, is placed 96th on this list, an improvement from last year’s 101st spot.

List of Indian passport holders who can travel visa-free :

Indians can travel visa-free to 19 countries in Africa, 18 countries in Asia, 10 countries in North America, 10 countries in the Asian region and one country in South America. This year too, Singapore is at the top of this list, having provided visa-free travel facilities to 194 countries. This year it is not at the top. In 2024, it will be at the top jointly with Japan, Germany, Italy, Spain, and France. Japan and Korea are jointly ranked second, where they provide visa-free travel facilities in 190 countries, while Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Spain are jointly ranked third. Without visa-free these countries citizen travel to 189 countries.

The Henley Passport Index: What is it?

According to its official website, Henale Passport Indices are the basis of all passports in the world, official rankings, which are determined on the basis of how many destinations their holders can reach without a complete survey or visa-free. This think tank has been developed based on the data of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which has then been researched and enhanced by a research team of Henal and partners.
