International Cat Day

International Cat Day is celebrated every year on 8 August worldwide and this day started in 2002 when the International Fund for Animal Welfare talked about protecting cats. Only after this, the International Fund decided to celebrate International Cat Day on 8 August. The main purpose of celebrating this day is to protect and help cats. Also, people are to be made aware of cats.

The practice of keeping cats in India is quite old. Until a few years ago, Hindu families considered maintaining inauspicious cats, but with time people’s thinking has started changing. At present, most people are keeping cats along with dogs. On the other hand, cats found a place in continents like Europe, North Africa, and Asia only for the last 5 thousand years. Let us tell you that, the people of Egypt even worship cats.

There is a difference in countries regarding the celebration of International Cat Day. In Russia, Cat Day is celebrated on March 1, and in America, Cat Day is celebrated on October 29. In Japan, Cat Day is celebrated on February 22. Apart from this, in most countries, Cat Day is celebrated on August 8. Cats are very cute and domestic animals. Of course, animals cannot speak, but they express their emotions. One of them is a cat.
