Royal Enfield Bear 650: Look and Design

This is the fifth bike in the 650cc segment based on the twin platform just like the company’s other motorcycles Interceptor, Continental, and Super Meteor. It is the scrambler model of Interceptor and many new features and premium mechanical components have been included in it. Along with the name, its look and design also look quite great.

Weighing 214 kg, this bike has a scramble-style seat, LED headlamp and taillamp, LED indicators, a number board on the side panel like a racing bike, and an excellent ground clearance of 184 mm. The Royal Enfield Bear 650 bike is around 2 kg lighter than the Interceptor. Its offroading capabilities are enhanced with better ground clearance.

The bike has a round-shaped TFT display instead of the dual pod instrument console given in Guerilla and Himalayan. This display supports Google Maps and can be controlled with a new switchgear. Royal Enfield Bear 650 is coming in 5 different color variants which are also priced differently.

Power and Performance:

The Bear 650 uses a 648cc parallel twin engine like the other models, but a major change has been made to it. Instead of dual exhaust pipes, the bike now runs on a two-in-one system, with a single exhaust on the right side. This engine generates 47hp of power and 56.5Nm. It is being said that due to the changes made in the exhaust system, a major change will also be seen in the torque of the bike.

The same chassis has been used in the new Royal Enfield Bear 650 like the Interceptor 650. But the suspension and wheel size have been changed. The front and rear wheel setup has been changed from 18-inch/18-inch to 19-inch/17-inch. Which is more in line with a scrambler motorcycle. It has an updated suspension, with the Bear getting Showa upside-down (USD) forks similar to the Shotgun. While the new one gets dual shock-absorber suspension.

The company has also increased the suspension travel of this bike. Which has increased from 110 mm/88 mm given in Interceptor to 130 mm/115 mm. Due to the increased suspension travel, its seat height has also increased to 830 mm. In this, the company has used MRF’s new Nylorex block pattern tires. Although the option of tubeless tires has not been given in.

Like the Interceptor, it has a 320 mm disc unit in the front, but a 270 mm disc brake is available in the rear. The Bear 650 bikes are equipped with a dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS). A major change has also been made in the ergonomics of the bike. A new wide handlebar and a different foot peg position are available.
