Pakistan-Russia Joint Military Drill Operation:
Pakistan, which is known as India’s biggest enemy and neighbor, is improving its relations with Russia. According to reports, Russia and Pakistan have started a joint military exercise called Druzhba (meaning friendship) VII. This is the 7th bilateral joint anti-terrorism exercise between these two countries. ISPR inter-services public relations gave this information on 15 October. SCO meeting was also going on here.
According to the Pakistani military media wing, this exercise aims to use military relations between friendly countries. Apart from this, both countries’ military skills are to be improved through this training.
The two-week-long exercise is being conducted at the National Counter-Terrorism Centre Pabbi in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on October 13, the ISPR said. Pakistan Army’s Light Commando Troops and Russian military contingent are taking part in the joint drill.

When was the last military exercise?
The last military exercise between Pakistan and Russia – Druzhba VI – was held in the Molkino Trug region of Krasnodar, Russia in 2021. The Pakistani Armed Forces regularly conduct joint military exercises with other countries to enhance combat readiness, and training and identify problems in current military doctrine.
Pakistan’s joint drill during the SCO meeting:
The military exercise between Pakistan and Russia is taking place at a time when the (SCO) Summit is going on in Islamabad. The special thing is that Russia is an important member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. This two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting started on Tuesday. Many big leaders also participated in this meeting. India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also participated in this (SCO) meeting. S Jaishankar reached Islamabad on the evening of 15 October.
Warmth in Russia-Pakistan relations:
Russia has been very close to India. In the last few years, Russia’s proximity to India’s biggest enemy Pakistan has increased. As a result, joint military exercises are being conducted between the two countries. Arms agreements are also being made. Apart from this, trade relations between Russia and Pakistan are also growing rapidly, which has reached 1 billion dollars this year.
