Skoda Kylak

The Skoda Kylaq is built on the same MQB-A0 IN platform used for SUVs like the Skoda Kushak, Slavia, and Volkswagen Tigun. The company claims that this SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 mph in just 10.5 seconds, making it the fastest compact SUV in the segment. Equipped with attractive looks and a powerful engine, the starting price of this SUV has been fixed at Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

First of all, let’s talk about the name of this SUV. The company had run a contest for the name of this SUV. During that time, the company received more than 2 lakh entries from across the country. Out of which 7 names were selected and proposed for voting. After getting the most votes from people on social media and the Internet, the name Kylaq was finalized, which is present among us today as a powerful SUV. This SUV is named after Mount Kailash.

Kushak and Slovo are also built on  (MQB A0-IN) platform. Split headlamps, squared-off tail lights, and butterfly front grille are being provided in Skoda Kylaq. LED projector headlamps are provided at the bottom It is being given split headlamps, squared-off tail-lights, butterfly front grille.

Although its front grille is a bit thinner than Kushak, it leaves no stone unturned in improving its front look. Clear crease lines have been given on the bonnet. At the same time, the aluminum spoiler at the bottom gives it a slightly contrasting look.

SUV Size:

Skoda Kylaq wheelbase is 2,566 mm. Its length is 3,995 mm. Skoda Kylaq is second in this segment after Mahindra XUV 3XO. It has 17-inch alloy wheels.

Power and Performance:

On behalf of the company, Skoda is launching the Kylaq in the market with only one petrol engine. It is being given a 1.0-liter capacity TSI turbo-petrol engine. The engine of the Skoda Kylaq generates a power of 115 PS and a torque of 178 Nm. It is expected that this SUV will give better mileage.

This SUV’s cabin looks very similar to Kushak’s. Both have the same dashboard layout, with components like side vents, climate control panel, two-spoke steering, and 8-inch digital instrument cluster being common in both models. It has a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. In terms of features, Kylaq seems to be trying its best to live up to your expectations in this segment. In this, the company has provided features like a sunroof (single-pane), keyless entry, wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front seat ventilation, and leatherette upholstery.

However, the Kylaq seems to be a step ahead of its competitors. It features powered seat adjustment not only for the driver but also for the front seat passenger. Overall, the company has designed the cabin keeping in mind all the needs of this price segment. It has bottle holders on all doors, a large glovebox, and cup holders.

Safety Features:

The Kylaq is built on the same MQB-A0 IN platform that is used for SUVs like the Skoda Kushak, Slavia and Volkswagen Tiguan. Although it has not been crash-tested yet, it is expected to get a 5-star rating like other models.

As safety features, it has safety features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, electronic differential lock, and ISOFIX child seat mount.
