The East Asian nation occupying the southern portion of the South Korean peninsula intrigues tourists from around the world with a wide array of dimensions.To explore, ranging from culture to food, wellness, festivals, performing arts, luxury, hallyu, and what not! The ever engaging South Korea offers much more than what meets the eye at first glance. One can look at a trip to the nation as a clean slate, on which every possibility can be carved out of the unfathomable imaginations of a discreet mind, much to the delight of an avid traveler.

For the uninitiated, the South Korean culture dates back to 10,000 years ago (as solidified by archaeological studies) and boasts a strong cultural heritage, as can be witnessed at attractions such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Gyeonghuigung Palace, and Changgyeonggung Palace in Seoul, through several experience programs such as reenactment of the historical Royal Guard Changing Ceremony that enables the visitors to get a better grasp of the obvious.

As we say in our country, JAISA DES, WAISA BHES, there is no better way to experience a culture than putting on the traditional clothing of a culture while exploring its insights of it, and the way to do that in South Korea is to get yourself a hanbok! It will truly make a whole lot of difference as I can imagine.

My peculiar interest lies in exploring the culinary aspects of a culture. Being a foodie myself,I am very much intrigued by the simplicity of the ingredients, yet the ultimate complexity of the food that is prepared using them in South Korean cuisine. Looking forward to exploring, experiencing and inculcating the experience in my own kitchen.

Arts and crafts is an interesting and engaging way to learn about a culture. I would be very much like to bring out the artist within me (it must have been deep, deep down at this point of time!) and experience firsthand the craft workshops in Insa-Ding, Gahoe-dong, and Bukchon Hanok village  in South Korea . The thought of actually taking a unique souvenir back home, possibly made by me using HANJI, thrills me to my core.

My bucket list is incomplete without experiencing the soul-soothing ceramics I make programs against the backdrop of serene nature. The exuberant feeling of molding a simple ball of clay into a vast possibility of imagination is an experience to behold.

Taekwondo, the most recognized form of South Korean martial arts, is a sport that emphasizes a sense of morality, humility, and respect for one’s opponent, wherein the practitioner does not only improves his physical ability but also his mental strength. It carves out a striking balance between physical wellbeing and mental toughness. It would be interesting to know.

About the origins of the practice, experience the art form in its purest form, and if possible, learn a few steps, you know, to impress the peers back home! My ever-active inner self, pursuing the longing for a higher purpose, peace, and serenity, pushes me to experience templestays in South Korea, just for the sake of a sanctuary from city life.

The lifestyle of South Korean Buddhism, their rituals, and their spirituality all fascinate me to a point. where even a small glimpse might change the way I perceive the mortal world. I wish I could Get that trigger! It might just bring the much-awaited brightness into my life, just as the lotus lantern does.

The list cannot end without the luxurious experience of spas and wellness centers spread across the South Korea. Not to mention the South Korean skin care expertise that can offer much in  terms of learning, it has a unique way of utilizing natural resources and day-to-day ingredients commonly found in a household. An Indian can definitely see a similarity there.

Travel is a way to perceive nature in ways no other. To see, experience, and live a culture is by far the best method of actively interacting with humans living a different life than you.Their perceptions, skills, crafts, food, and way of living imprint a lasting impression that I believe it will help, guide, or uplift you at some point in your life, probably when you need it the most. And that’s my take out of a travel experience for South Korea.
