Why there is introduction of Blue Aadhar Card?

Aadhar card plays an important role in entering into various schemes and subsidies of government. It has become a crucial KYC document. It is used as an identity proof at various places. There is a 12 digit number which is the Aadhar number of an individual. It must be keep safe and secure.

It contains various personal details of an individual like: Name of holder of card, Address where they reside, Date of birth.

For applying, the foremost step is to visit the center and then submission of various documents like: identity proof, date of birth proof, address proof. And for enrollment- Biometric verification of an individual is required and once the verification process is completed it is mailed to the individual.

There are two types Aadhar card:

  • Standard Aadhar card– This card is for adults.
  • Blue Aadhar card-This blue Aadhar card is for children under age 5 and was introduced in 2018 and is blue in color. blue Aadhar card is similar to the standard Aadhar card and has 12 digit number. But in blue Aadhar card, there is no need of biometric data, facial photograph is enough. But after the child turns 5, blue Aadhar card has to be updated to standard Aadhar card with the biometric data of the child and again at the again of 15 as the biometric data may change due to growth of the child. If not updated the blue Aadhar card will get invalid. The updating process of blue Aadhar card is of no cost and the updated Aadhar card is send at the registered address within 90 days.
  • Documents required for blue Aadhar card:
  • Aadhar card of parents, Proof of parents address where they reside, Birth certificate of child, Two passport size photo of child. Once the whole procedure is done, it will be issued from the date verification is completely done.
