The dates for the upcoming 2 matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) have changed. The matches between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) have been rescheduled. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the change of dates of two matches of Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
Now it will be played a day earlier on April 16, 2024. Whereas at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 16th April, The IPL match between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals was to be hosted in 2024. Now this match will be played on 17 April 2024.
Why Were The Match Dates Changed?
The dates of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 have been announced and the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is also going on. Till April 1, a total of 14 matches have taken place in the tournament. BCCI has changed the dates of the two matches in the latest update due to Ram Navami and security. Ram Navami is on 17th April. Kolkata Police had refused to provide security for this match. The reason for this is That this day was the festival of Ram Navami. Kolkata Police had suggested that IPL hold this match on another date. For this reason, the date of the match between Kolkata and Rajasthan Royals to be held on April 17 was changed.

There Was a Problem Regarding Security:
According to sources in the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and Kolkata Police, it is heard that adequate security will be provided for the night IPL matches. There was suspense about whether it might be possible or not. The first phase of Lok Sabha elections will begin two days after this match. For this reason, no risk will be taken regarding security, a CAB source confirmed.
In a letter sent to CAB, Kolkata Police informed them that due to heavy deployment on the match day and elections, police have been sent to other places also, Therefore, it is not possible to provide adequate police on that day.
