After the notification of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 14 people were given citizen certificates today. With this, the process of giving Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan has started. According to PTI, an official source said that Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla gave certificates to 14 people after their applications were processed online through the portal.

At this time many senior officials including Secretary, Post, Director and Registrar General of India were present. The Government of India promulgated the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2024 on 11 March 2024. There are three ways to apply. The process of extending the age of application by the district label committee or the scrutiny of applications by the state authorities has been arranged.

Which Countries Will Get Citizenship?

Under the Citizenship CAA  Amendment Act, people belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Christian or Parsi religions who have come from Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan will be admitted as citizens. This law has been controversial and has faced both support and opposition within India.

The Citizenship Amendment Bill was first introduced in the Lok Sabha in 2016. It was passed by the Lok Sabha, but it was attacked in the Rajya Sabha. Later it was sent to the Parliament. Or later elections were held or a new government was formed again. Therefore, in December 2019, this bill was again introduced in the Lok Sabha. Now this bill was passed by both the Lok Sabha and the Raj Sabha. After getting approval from the President, this law became law from 10 January 2020. But its notification was issued on March 11 this year.

This Is How You Will Get Citizenship CAA

CAA-2019 can also be done online through the name app. 29 documents will be required to become a citizen. Out of these, 9 documents will prove that you are a citizen of Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan. Whereas the remaining 20 documents will be proof of the date on which you entered India.

After applying online, the form will be scrutinized by the district level committee. After this, this committee will track and timely inform the applicant through email or SMS. The day it will be used in interactive form with multiple documents. If your documents are correct then the designated officer will verify online that your documents have been verified. This panel will then investigate the case. At the end, a citizen certificate will be issued to the applicant. Those who are declared citizens CAA, they will be considered as Indian citizens from the date of their entry into India.
