New Guidelines Regarding Encounter In UP:
Questions were raised on the recent encounters in Sultanpur and Bahraich. The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has now issued new guidelines regarding Encounter in Up. DGP Prashant Kumar has given instructions on how to implement these guidelines across the state. In case of any death or injury during the encounter, now the scene of the incident will be compulsorily videographed. Also, if a criminal dies in an encounter, a postmortem will be conducted by a panel of two doctors, which will also be video graphed.
The presence of a forensic team will be necessary:
The role of the forensic team has also been made mandatory in the new guidelines. After every encounter, the forensic team will inspect the spot and will be a part of the investigation process. Apart from this, now the encounter will not be investigated by the police at the same police station where the incident took place. The investigation will be conducted by another police station or crime branch so that impartiality is maintained.

The investigation will be monitored at a high level:
DGP Prashant Kumar has also directed that the officers involved in the encounter (UP Encounter) will be investigated by officers of a higher level. Along with this, the family members of the criminal killed in the encounter will be informed immediately and separate copies of the videography of the incident spot will be kept safe as a record.
Akhilesh Yadav had questioned the encounter:
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had recently raised questions about the encounter in Sultanpur. Akhilesh Yadav had accused the police of a fake encounter regarding the encounter of Mangesh Yadav. He was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh in the Sultanpur robbery case. He called it an action against ‘PDA’ (Backward, Dalit and Minority). The SP chief said that the UP Police is deliberately doing fake encounters of people in the PDA community. Only after this, the government has issued these new guidelines to make the encounter process transparent.
Transparency will increase with new instructions:
These guidelines are being considered important in view of the questions raised on the encounter (UP Encounter). The government has clarified that every process of encounter will now be more transparent so that any allegation can be proved baseless. Along with videography and forensic investigation, videography of postmortem is also being considered a strong step, which will recognize the encounter under the legal framework.
The family will be informed immediately:
Another important point has been added to this new government guideline. There is a provision to immediately inform the family members of the criminals killed in the encounter. So that there is no scope for hiding any kind of information. As per the instructions of the DGP, this entire process will now be completely on record. Which will make the administrative process transparent and balanced. This new guideline of the Yogi government is a big step towards making the legal process related to the encounter transparent and fair. The government is trying to answer the questions raised on the encounter on an authentic and factual basis.
