Both Countries had made plans to attack each other after seeing the Cuban threat John F. Kennedy, the US president at that time had also warned the Soviet Union. Soviet Union’s nuclear weapons were coming to Cuba:

At the same time, additional consignments of arms from the Soviet Union were arriving in Cuba. In such a situation, not only did the US blockade Cuba’s nose, but it was also preparing to invade if the Soviet Union did not back down. The world held its breath to see whether these two great powers would come face to face. With no clear end to the crisis in sight, the American army was placed in DEFCON 2 – which meant that a war involving strategic air force was imminent.

America had blockaded Cuba from all sides:

The US had imposed a naval blockade around Cuba. On October 24 (1962), millions around the world waited to see if a Soviet ship bound for Cuba carrying additional missiles would try to break the US naval blockade around the island. Amid the tension, on October 26, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev wrote a long letter to Kennedy offering a deal.

The Soviet Union had set two conditions for removing weapons from Cuba:

It said that the ships going to Cuba would not carry any guns if they lifted the blockade of Cuba and the United States of America vowed never to attack Cuba. They requested that we should show understanding. After this, the matter continued further and the ship of the Soviet Union finally returned on 27 October.

America’s missiles were deployed in Turkiye:

The Soviet Union had made a condition to remove the missiles from Cuba. The Soviet Union had asked America to remove the missiles from Turkey. It is said that America wanted to remove the missiles from Turkey for quite some time but at such a time when the Soviet Union was in front of them, they felt that doing so would make them appear weak. Therefore, the Soviet Union was told that first they should remove their missiles from Cuba, then America would remove its missiles from Turkey otherwise America would resort to military action.
