On this occasion of Diwali, Ayodhya sets up a new Guinness World Record by lighting up over 25 lakh oil lamps during the eighth edition of Deepotsav. The other record was of the maximum number of people coming together to perform aarti simultaneously.
According to Guinness World Record, a total of 1,121 people gathered together to perform the aarti. This event was held at 55 ghats which included Ram ki Paidi along with the Saryu river. The diyas were counted using drones deployed in the sky.

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath said the transformation of Ayodhya was just the beginning and a part of the greater vision as imagined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the development and betterment of Sanatan Dharma and representing it globally. The entire city of Ayodhya was beautifully decorated with lights including temples, streets, and religious and government buildings.
About 500 drones were deployed to record the event and many cultural programmes based on Ramayana were also organized during this occasion. As per government stats, this Diwali almost 35 lakh oil lamps were lit across the entire city of Ayodhya out of which 25 lakhs were lit at the 55 ghats.
