39th US President Jimmy Carter Passes Away At The Age of 100

On December 29th, 2024, US President Jimmy Carter passed away at his home in Plains, Georgia. He was the longest-lived US President who earned a distinctive place in history as a friend of India. Jimmy Carter was 100 years old. Jimmy Carter served as an American President from 1977 to 1981. The Carter Center committed his death but did not disclose the cause of his death. Jimmy Carter was treated for an aggressive form of melanoma skin cancer, with tumors that outspread to his liver and brain in February 2023.

During his tenure, he faced countless challenges related to international policy but still he left a lasting legacy not only domestically but also internationally. India renamed the Haryana village to cartarpuri in his honour during his visit to India in 1978. As a US President, Jimmy Carter was extremely applaud in India for his connection and dedication in autonomy.

He won the presidency in the wake of the Watergate scandal and Vietnam War but defeated in 1981 during his re-election bid by Ronald Reagan, a Republican.

His wife Rosalynn passes away at the age of 96 in November 19, 2023. Carter’s son Chip Carter said that his father was a hero who brought people together and making the world our family. Former US President Donald Trump paid tribute to Carter, said “Jimmy Carter worked very hard to make America a great place, and for that, I obey him. President Joe Biden said he ordered a national day of mourning on January 9 2025.

As the longest lived US President, Jimmy Carter was a small-town peanut farmer before going into politics. Carter had also won the nobel peace prize for conflict resolution work. Barack Obama, George Washington and Bill Clinton were also joined and express their solace over the president’s death.
