Mumbai on Alert: IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall for Next 2 Days

Some of the districts in Maharashtra are under an orange alert warning, with heavy rainfall in Pune, Ahmednagar, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded. The IMD ( India Meteorological Department ) announces the heavy rainfall starting on  Saturday, 27 September, and continuing till Monday, 29 September. Apart from Mumbai, the surrounding areas like Palghar, Thane, and Raigad are also expected to have similar weather till Monday.

Mumbai is currently under the orange alert, which means that the moderate rain along with the thunderstorm and winds as per the IMD ( India Meteorological Department ), Palghar, Thane, and Raigad are also under the orange alert. Some districts in Maharashtra are under heavy rainfall, and red alert warning includes Jalna, Beed, and Solapur, which means moderate to intense rainfall may hit parts of these areas, along with thunderstorms and surface winds. Moderate rain is expected in most of Maharashtra as it remains under a yellow or orange alert.

According to the weather department, heavy rainfall is very likely on Saturday in isolated areas of Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Konkan and Goa, Maharashtra, north interior Karnataka, Odisha, and Telangana. Similarly, the heavy rainfall is expected to occur in various places like Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and West Bengal and Sikkim.

In some places over the Andaman and Nicobar islands, coastal Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Gangetic and Telangana, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds speeding up to 40-50 kmph are also very likely on Saturday. The heavy rainfall, similar weather is also likely in parts of Bihar, interior Karnataka, Jharkhand, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Odisha, Rayalaseema, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, but with gusty winds speeding up to 30-40 kmph.

The IMD ( India Meteorological Department ) announces the heavy rainfall and squally wind with the speed reaching 45 kmph to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is likely over some parts of southwest adjoining the West-Central Arabian Sea along and off the Somalia coast.
