What is ‘Vantara’, Which is Being Described as the World’s Largest Animal Rescue Center?

Regarding Vantara which is described as world’s largest animal rescue center, it is said that 200 elephants have been rescued under this program. According to reports, this program was started by Anant Ambani, son of well-known industrialist Mukesh Ambani. Its center has been built in Jamnagar, Gujarat. It will be run in collaboration with many big organizations around the world. Work has been done on this for the last several years. 

What is this Animal Rescue Program?

According to media reports, under this program, tortured, exploited, and injured animals in the country and abroad will be rescued and brought here. This is the first program of its kind in India. Specialized staff of more than 2100 people will work under this program. 

What’s Inside?

Vantara has been built in the green belt area of Jamnagar Refinery Complex. This animal shelter is spread over an area of 3000 acres. The animal rescue center and rehabilitation center have been built in an area of 650 acres. It has been built on the lines of a forest. A special kitchen is also being built for the animals in the Vantara facility. This kitchen has been built in an area of 14000 square feet. Here, diets will be prepared for different animals according to their physical needs. 

A hospital, health care center, research, and academic center will also be built in Vantara Complex. The company says that under the animal rescue program, international universities Will work on this in collaboration with organizations like the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF). 

According to the report of Times of India, Anant Ambani said that the hospitals in Vantara will provide MRI, and CT scan machines and endoscopic robotic surgery will also be done. He said that six surgical centers have also been built for animals. There is also a provision for an ICU for animals. In which almost all the necessary facilities are available. 

How Many have been Saved so Far? 

According to the report of Deccan Herald, the company told about Vantara that so far 200 elephants have been rescued under the program. Besides, more than 300 other big animals like leopards, tigers, lions, and jaguars have also been rescued. 

He further said that more than 3000 herbivorous animals and 1200 reptiles like crocodiles, lizards, snakes, and turtles are included. The company says that for this they had taken approval from the Chief Wildlife Wardens and Zoo Authorities of the respective states. These animals have been brought under the Wild Life Protection Act 1972.

Special Arrangements for Elephants

As we already told you, more than 200 elephants have been rescued under this program. According to media reports, a 25,000-square-foot hospital has been built for elephants. It is also equipped with a special type of X-ray and laser machine. 

Also includes a shelter for elephants and a specially designed day and night environment area. Vantara also has hydrotherapy pools, ponds, and Jacuzzis for the elephants visiting it. Which will help in curing the problem of arthritis in elephants.
