From Ludhiana to Patiala | BJP made a dent in Congress’s stronghold in Punjab

Congress leaders were laughing when the alliance of BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal broke in Punjab. Perhaps they were unaware that the Bharatiya Janta Party would break into their stronghold and announce that they would contest the elections on their own. Bharatiya Janta Party has placed its bets on sitting MPs of Congress and AAP on three Lok Sabha seats in the state.

BJP has entered the electoral fray in this Lok Sabha election hoping to cross 370 and NDA 400. In this context, it is believed that the party is eyeing each seat where the party considers itself weak. In the last Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janta Party had won two Lok Sabha seats, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur. This time the party aims to win more seats here

BJP has included three-time Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu in the party.

Recently, the Bharatiya Janata Party has included three-time Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu in the party.  Knowing that there is an opposition wave against Bittu, the BJP has made him the candidate from Ludhiana. The party is eyeing 66 percent Hindu voters in this seat, Where BJP can try to capitalize on the construction of the Ram temple.

Former Congressman Preneet Kaur in Patiala: 

Patiala Lok Sabha seat has been a stronghold of Congress. Congress candidates have won this seat 9 times. Whereas Akali Dal has won this seat three times and Aam Aadmi Party has won this seat once.  BJP has nominated Preneet Kaur, wife of former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, as its candidate for this seat. BJP hopes that this will transfer Congress votes to the party and will also benefit from the mutual fight between Aam Aadmi Party and Congress.

Preneet Kaur was expelled from the party by Congress in February 2023 on charges of collusion with BJPCongress has fielded Dharamveer Gandhi as its candidate on this seat, who had won this seat on Aam Aadmi Party ticket in the 2014 elections.
