IPL 2024: This victory of Mumbai Indians against Delhi Capitals is historic. Today Mumbai Indians became the first team in T-20 history to win 250 matches.

Finally, Mumbai Indians opened their winning account in the 17th season of IPL, IPL 2024. Batting first on his home ground after three consecutive defeats, he scored 234 runs and Delhi Capitals was restricted to 205 runs and defeated by 29 runs. The hero of Mumbai’s victory was Romario Shepherd, who scored 39 runs in 10 balls while batting at number 7. This brilliant innings of Shepherd for Mumbai in IPL 2024 made a big difference in victory and defeat. Tristan Stubbs played an unbeaten inning of 80 runs in 25 balls for Delhi but it did not prove to be enough to win Mumbai in IPL 2024.  Apart from these, Prithvi Shaw scored 66 runs in 44 balls. Mumbai got its first win after three defeats in IPL 2024. While Delhi had to face defeat for the fourth time in five matches in IPL 2024. With this defeat, Delhi team reached the lowest position in the points table in IPL 2024.

First win after three consecutive defeats

Like every season, the five-time champion Mumbai Indians had a very bad start in IPL 2024. Mumbai had to face defeat by Gujarat by 6 runs in its first match. In the second match, Hyderabad defeated Mumbai by 31 runs. Had to face a shameful defeat of 6 wickets at the hands of Rajasthan in the third match. After three consecutive defeats, Mumbai got its first win this season.

Batting lineup employed for the first time in IPL 2024

Before Romario Shepherd, Mumbai Indians were defeated by Rohit Sharma (49 runs on 27 balls) and Ishan Kishan (42 runs on 23 balls). Even though he could not prolong his innings, he gave a good start. After his dismissal, Team David (45 not out off 21 balls), Hardik Pandya (39 runs off 33 balls) and Shepherd handled the innings well. Axar Patel was the most successful bowler in Delhi, he took two wickets for 35 runs.

Magic of Coetzee and Bumrah

Prithvi Shaw (66 runs on 40 balls) and Abishek Porel (41 runs on 31 balls) made a partnership of 88 runs for the second wicket and Delhi started springing up quickly. Tristan Stubbs played a stormy innings of 71 runs in 25 balls with the help of three fours and 7 sixes. But under the pressure of a big target, other batsmen could not perform. For Mumbai, in this match of IPL 2024, Gerald Coetzee took 4 wickets for 34 runs and Bumrah took 2 wickets for 22 runs. Gerald Coetzee took three wickets in the last over of the match. After this, Stubbs completed his half-century in 19 balls, after which he hit 2 sixes on Shaparrud. But this will only reduce the margin of defeat.
