Russia claims it shot down British missile Storm Shadow:
Meanwhile, Russia has claimed that its air defense system has shot down two British Storm Shadow missiles. These missiles were fired by Ukraine towards Russia. This was the first time Ukraine used this missile against Russia.
Ukrainian intelligence had claimed that Russia would carry out such an attack:
On 20 November 2024, Ukrainian intelligence claimed that the Russian army was preparing to fire its intercontinental ballistic missile RS-26 Rubezh. This missile will be launched from Kapustin Yar Air Base. This area is also called Astrakhan. There is a possibility that this missile may not have a nuclear weapon. But it can carry a low-intensity nuclear weapon or a dangerous conventional weapon.
The weight of this missile is 36 thousand kilograms. It can carry 4 weapons of 150/300 kilotons simultaneously. This means that this missile is equipped with MIRV technology. This means that it can attack four targets simultaneously. This missile is also capable of carrying an Avangard hypersonic glide vehicle. This means that the attack can be even more powerful.
The range of this missile is about 6000 kilometers. This missile moves towards the target at a speed of 24,500 km/hr. This means that no air defense system in the world can stop it. It can be fired from a road-mobile launcher.
It is not easy to track and shoot down the Kinzhal missile:
It is difficult to track it. It is very accurate, lethal, and deadly. It comes under the category of Air Launched Ballistic Missile (ALBM). Usually, it is fired on moving or hidden targets on land and water. It travels at a speed 10 times faster than the speed of sound. That is, 6100 to 12,348 km per hour. Its maximum range is two thousand kilometers.
Can also be fired with nuclear weapons:
The Kinzhal hypersonic missile can carry a nuclear or conventional weapon weighing 480 kg. It is also called Dagger. It means dagger. Earlier last year, Russia had used this missile to blow up an underground warehouse in south-west Ukraine.
According to the report of Russian state media organization TASS, Russia demonstrated its hypersonic missile for the first time in the year 2018. Russia displayed it on Red Square in the Victory Day military parade on the 73rd anniversary of the Great Patriotic War won in 1941-45. It has deployed it in its MiG-31K fighter aircraft.
