Highlights of NEET exam:
The NEET Exam was conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on 5th May. Almost 23 lakhs 33 thousand students appeared for the exam. The result, which was supposed to get out on 14th June, was released on 4th June 2024. When the results came out, many malpractices against the results and the exams were reported. Such as, grace marking to students, 8 toppers from the same center, paper leak and many more. NTA then announced to re-conduct the exam for those 1500 students, to which grace marks were provided.
The Supreme Court:
Various teachers, mentors and students reported to the Supreme Court about the re-conduction of the NEET exam. But, the Supreme Court has ruled out this statement of re-exam. The Supreme Court dictated that it is difficult to conclude that the whole NTA system was vitiated. As for the extent of paper leak, NTA submitted various points to prove against it. NTA mentioned that the results come with 7-layer security so they cannot be leaked this easily. And the paper leak report was submitted just from 2 centers, Hazaribagh and Patna. Hence, it cannot be said that the paper got leak before the day of examination.

The case of Re-NEET was being heard by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud Singh, Justice J B Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra. In the hearing on 18th July, the Supreme Court demanded NTA to republish the results, center-wise and city-wise. Assuring the anonymity of the candidates and masking their identities. The Supreme Court stated that re-conduction of the exam will only happen when it is fully proved that the paper leak happened and the integrity of the entire examination was challenged.
