Swachh Bharat 2024: Revolutionary Tech Transforming India

The Swachh Bharat Mission, or Clean India Mission, is a mass campaign launched by the Government of India on October 2, 2014, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It aims to eliminate open defecation, improve solid waste management, and promote cleanliness and hygiene across India. The campaign was an attempt to fulfil the vision of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi of a clean India and is considered to be one of the largest cleaning initiatives worldwide.

The official slogan of the Swachh Bharat Mission:

“One step towards cleanliness.” (Ek kadam swachhata ki aur). The slogan encourages every citizen to take part in ensuring cleanliness in their surroundings, thus reinforcing the idea that great change can be achieved through collective effort.

The phases of the Swachh Bharat Mission:

  • Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G): Aimed at sanitation in rural areas to make the villages ODF open.
  • Swachh Bharat Mission – Urban (SBM-U): Deals with urbanized areas, solid waste management, and clean public spaces.
