Navy Salute:

Indian Navy salute is given by turning the palm towards the ground at an angle of 90° from the forehead. Why do Navy soldiers salute only at an angle of 90°? So, the reason behind this is that in the old days, the crew of the ship working on the deck often lived amidst grease, oil stains, and dirt. During this time, to avoid insulting their seniors, they used to salute with their dirty palms facing the ground. Since then, this is how the salute has been done.

Air Force Salute:

Indian Air Force issued new salute guidelines for its personnel in 2006. In which the salute is done with an open palm at 45° to the ground. And the right hand is raised very little. The reason for the Air Force saluting at 45° is that the salute is done at 45° from the ground which shows the progress of the sky. This is like fulfilling their slogan of ‘touching the sky with pride’. Let us tell you that earlier, the hand salute of the Indian Air Force was like that of the Indian Army, which changed in the year 2006.
