- In order to support wage rates of Labours in India, particularly those in unorganized sector, the announcement has been made by central government for increase in wage rate of labours. The government of state decides the minimum wage rates of workers so, it differ from state to state. In connection to this, there are various sector in India that have their own structure for wages. The sectors are: Agriculture, Construction, Services & Manufacturing.
- The employers should stick with the minimum wage rates and fair compensation should be given to workers. The wage rates of labours should range between minimum wage rate to salaries based on their talent, job position and work experiences. This will help the workers to survive with the continue rising cost of living. From 1st October,2024, the new wage rate will come into force. Skill level and geographical area plays an important role in categorizing the minimum wage rate of Labours.
- On the basis of skill level: Unskilled, Semi-skilled, Highly skilled
- On the basis of geographical area: A, B, C

- For semi-skilled workers- Rs. 868 a day( i.e 22,568 per month)
- For skilled, clerical and ward and watch without arms- Rs. 954 a day( i.e 24,804 per month)
- For highly-skilled and ward and watch with arms- Rs. 1035 a day( i.e 26,910 per month)
